Sung-poetry festival Ukhana in Kaliningrad District, Russia, 2019
Sung-poetry festival Ukhana of Russian-speaking artists has been held for over thirty years in the vicinity of Baltijsk. This is one of the largest events of this type in Russia which is visited by almost two thousand fans every year. The name comes from the traditional Russian fish soup - ukha, which is served free to all participants straight from a field kitchen. The festival has been located in a deep forest in the immediate vicinity of sea dunes and a wild beach. Despite the lack of electricity, basic infrastructure is provided there - medical assistance, life guards, food stand, toilets and garbage containers. Accommodation is, of course, in tents which you bring with you. You can literally put them up anywhere - between trees in the forest, on dunes or on the beach. The event is for free. A huge attraction of the festival is also the wild sea beach which is very wide and finished with a picturesque cliff. The water is very clean, without cyanobacteria and there is no rubbish on the beach and dunes. It is also easy to meet here sunbathing seals. You can camp, make a fire and sleep in a tent both on the beach and on the dunes; you can also drive a car on the beach without any limits (Russian regulations allow this). And having a luck, you can come across military exercises with use of tanks as well.
